AUSIT PD Presents:

"Spanish into English Translation Masterclass"

Live Webinar via Zoom On-line

Wednesday 31 August 2022

6.00pm - 8.00pm AEST

REGISTRATIONS CLOSED

Fine-tune your Spanish into English translation skills in the company of fellow translators.

Who is this for? AUSIT members who translate from Spanish into English.

What level is it pitched at?
Intermediate. The text is quite demanding (text available here.) Please consult the NAATI Recertification Catalogue to allocate the relevant PD Points. Some activities can be included under different categories, so please choose the most appropriate category for your recertification purposes.

Do I need to be certified in Spanish to participate? No. The two requirements are that you are an AUSIT member and that you send your version by the deadline (read on).

What is the cost?
It’s free for AUSIT members.

What do I need to do to participate? You need to translate the source text into English and email it to angelo@amicuscuriaelegaltranslations.com before 5pm on 29.08.2022.

What name do I give my translation?
Please name your translation ‘Spanish Masterclass August 2022’. Do not identify it in any other way. The versions are anonymous.

What other information do I need to provide on the email? Please state the following information so that we can assign participants to breakdown rooms:

- Language combinations in which you are certified.
- Year of first certification / accreditation.
- If you are a student with no certification, please state so.

What happens next? Once you send your translation, the host will email you the Zoom details for you to connect on 31 August.

What will happen on 31 August?
The Masterclass will start at 6pm AEST. For the first hour, participants will work in break-out rooms led each by one of the hosts. Each room will work on a paragraph of the text and collectively will produce an agreed version/s. During the second hour, a delegate for each break-out room will take us through the collective version for their paragraph. This exercise is intended to promote the exchange of opinions, appreciate different perspectives and fine-tune style, all in a spirit of professional solidarity.

Will I receive an AUSIT certificate of attendance?
Yes. You will also receive the final version of the work done collectively during the Masterclass.

Time estimated: 120 minutes.
