NAT: An afternoon of Poetry Translation with Melbourne Poet Peter BakowskiLive via Zoom onlineSaturday 24 July 2021 2.00pm - 5.00pm AEST (VIC)
REGISTRATIONS CLOSED AUSIT VIC Branch invites you to an afternoon of poetry translation on Saturday 24 July, from 2 - 5pm. This workshop will be facilitated by translators Ulrike Fisher and Claudia Schneider, and by Poet Peter Bakowski. You will be translating short poems in small groups from English into LOTE. Presenter 1 Peter Bakowski has been writing poetry for 38 years. He remains influenced by the following quote, attributed to Robert Frost - "Make your next poem different from your last". In 2015 Editions Bruno Doucey of Paris, published a bilingual selection of his poetry, titled "Le coeur à trois heures du matin". Later this decade Éditions Bruno Doucey will publish a further bilingual selected, titled "La saison du courage". In Australia in 2022 Recent Work Press will publish his next solo poetry collection, titled "Human News". Presenter 2
Ulrike Krenz-Fisher was born in Gifhorn, Germany and graduated from Braunschweig University with a degree in English and Politics. She subsequently gained an MBA from the Cass Business School in London. In 1995, her career took her to Australia where she has held global HR roles. In 2019, she graduated with a Master of Translation from Monash University, receiving a Student Excellence Award from AUSIT. She has since been involved in both poetry and business translations. Presenter 3 Claudia Schneider is a freelance translator and subtitler based in Melbourne. Her translations and subtitles have been published locally and overseas. Claudia teaches subtitling at RMIT University and is a teaching associate at Monash University. Joining the Webinar Please NOTE this is a live webinar.
