Notice of The Annual General Meeting for the AUSIT ACT Branch Committee


Date:   Saturday 21 August 2021
Time:  9.30am to  10.15am (AEST)


AUSIT ACT Branch invites you to attend our AGM, which is being held pursuant to provisions of Section 7.1.2 of the Constitution.   The Annual General Meeting is a chance for language professionals in the ACT to come together, catch up, and hear about the year in review.  In addition, current financial members vote in the new Branch Committee and raise any matters that they would like discussed.

Election of Committee Members

The current Committee would love to hear from members who are thinking about joining the Branch Committee.  If you have questions or want to express interest, please email us at: act@ausit.org

If you would like to nominate someone for a committee role, seek permission of the person you are wishing to nominate, then complete the Nomination Form and send to act@ausit.org by 19 August 2021.

PD Event:  please NOTE directly after the AGM,  there will be a Professional Development event run by the Queensland Branch, and presented by Patricia Avila on Interpreters and Translators at the Frontline series:  Ethics with a Difference:

As T/Is in Australia, we have the AUSIT Code of Ethics to refer to when faced with ethical challenges. However, there are some instances where we would really like to have further insights into the ethics area to solve more difficult dilemmas. Sometimes we might even decide to take “the less damaging” path when confronted with such situations, as no solution may seem to be the ideal one.

Patricia Ávila is requesting that you put on your thinking cap and submit a real-life problematic situation that you have faced during your day-to-day work as an interpreter and/or translator and that you would like to have discussed during this session.
