NAT: Portuguese Translation Masterclass
Live Webinar via Zoom online

23 February 2022

6.00pm - 8.00pm AEDT (NSW, VIC,CAN)

REGISTRATIONS CLOSED

This is a Masterclass that follows the format of the French Masterclass and the presentation given about it by Yveline Pilier at the 2020 AUSIT Conference.

The idea is simple

A text in Portuguese is distributed (about 300 words) and participants send their English translations by email.

Two random anonymous translations are selected and at the Masterclass, these are put on the screen.  Participants go line by line contrasting the Source Text (ST) to the two versions and expressing their opinions and suggesting alternatives.

In the meantime, a volunteer writes down the new collectively agreed translation.

This exercise is intended to promote the exchange of opinions, appreciate different perspectives, fine-tune style all in a spirit of professional solidarity.
