Please join the AUSIT Tas Branch on Saturday March 05 for their next Professional Development Workshop, which is an
extension on the theme of
Family Violence Training for Interpreters


One of our advertised Presenters, Dr Erika Gonzalez was unable to attend our recent training weekend in Tasmania.

However, we are very pleased to announce that Dr Gonzalez will be attending in Hobart on Saturday 5 March 2022 to deliver a presentation + workshop, addressing the following themes:

  • The Interpreters Model of Professionalism
  • Understanding and using the Code of Ethics
  • Adapt Ethical Principles When Interpreting For Survivors of Family Violence
  • Safety for Interpreters: Decision-Making + Dilemmas

    We therefore invite all interested Practitioners to register for in-person attendance on the day in Hobart, or live via Stream.  Those of you who attended the two-day event may wish to re-register for this portion also.  If so, click on the link below.

    Presenter:  Dr Erika Gonzalez

    Dr Erika Gonzalez is a Senior Lecturer in translating and interpreting studies at RMIT University. She is also the National President of the Australian Institute of Interpreters and Translators (AUSIT), and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK). 

    Her research interests focus on the professionalisation of community T & I and the impact language barriers have on non-English speakers.  Erika is actively involved in the organisation and delivery of national Professional Development initiatives Australia-wide and lobbying for the improvement of professional standards for the translating & interpreting profession.


    She believes that in multicultural societies quality T&I services are paramount to enable social equity. 

    Her work and efforts as an academic and researcher are focused on achieving such a goal.
