Small, interactive workshop on LGBTIQA+ terminology for both translators and interpreters

This interactive workshop will expand your understanding of the LGBTIQA+ Community and help you learn how to be more inclusive and aware.

During the two-hour session, you will unpack LGBTIQA+ identities, terminology, the important role that translators and interpreters play in the LGBTIQA+ communities, and explore ways to provide a respectful and safe environment when working with members of the communities.

Presenter: Budi Sudarto

Budi Sudarto (he/they) is a trainer and consultant specialising in intersectionality, inclusion and belonging. Budi has been involved with the LGBTIQA+ communities for more than 20 years, and is passionate about unpacking the intersections between race, ethnicity, faith, and LGBTIQA+ identities to improve the existing awareness, knowledge, and inclusive practices.

Budi has delivered LGBTIQA+ Awareness, Intersectionality, and Inclusion Training to several organisations, including the University of New England, Deakin College, and Migrant Information Centre, as well as speaking about their experiences in the media including SBS and the Star Observer. In their spare time, you could find Budi taking a walk around the local park, sipping coffee at the local cafe, and cross stitching.

Please NOTE - This event is capped at 15 people for optimal delivery. The spots are assigned on a first come first serve basis.
