AUSIT WA presents - Interpreters working with refugees and trauma survivors: an information session with ASeTTS

AUSIT WA is pleased to welcome Fiona Reid, Executive Manager of Client Services from the Association for Services to Torture and Trauma Survivors (ASeTTS).
ASeTTS aims to be a safe place for all people and cultures, working alongside people with expansive sexualities, genders and bodies with refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds to celebrate the diverse and rich lives of individuals and communities.

This presentation will cover the following topics:

• Overview of ASeTTS, client services and review of the global refugee situation
• The impact of torture and trauma on the lives of refugees and asylum seekers
• Key ingredients for interpreting in a mental health setting

Due to legislative and regulatory differences between States, this event is limited to WA participants only.

Biography: Fiona REID Executive Manager - Client Services
Fiona Reid has worked in community health and mental health for 25 years.
She is ASeTTS Executive Manager of Clients Services, including mental health, counselling, community development and capacity building programs. She has worked in senior management for more than 15 years and is a Master’s qualified family therapist specialising in trauma and addictions.
