An ethical decision-making framework for interpreters and translators – viewing and discussions

Once we, as interpreters and/or translators, become practitioners out ‘in the field’, we soon come to realise that maintaining appropriate ethical standards in our work involves more than just following the AUSIT Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct. Codes like these cannot possibly provide a ready-made answer to every ethical dilemma we may be faced with, so we need a framework for dealing with those more difficult situations that inevitably occur.

This PD event, apart from giving you an opportunity to meet some of your colleagues face-to-face, will also enable you to view a previously recorded webinar on the Demand-Control Schema (D-CS) approach to ethical decision-making. Both during and after the viewing you’ll have a chance to discuss the ethical issues involved and apply the D-CS approach to several scenarios.

Been wondering how to accrue those extra NAATI recertification points in the area of ethics? Then this PD event is for you!

Before the event starts, from 5:15 pm you’re also invited to gather with your professional colleagues, enjoy some light refreshments, and engage in a bit of networking.
