Addressing Vicarious TraumaSaturday 1 February 2020
A full-day workshop on vicarious trauma. Working as interpreters and translators, we are often challenged with traumatic experiences and it is vital for us to understand what vicarious trauma is and how to address it. Therefore, AUSIT NSW would like to invite our fellow practitioners to attend a full-day workshop talking about vicarious trauma and how to deal with it. This interactive, hands-on, multi-media full-day workshop has been developed to provide both novice and experienced interpreters/translators with the knowledge and tools to minimise the risk and impact of vicarious trauma (VT) following highly emotive assignments. Participants will gain detailed insights into the neuropsychosocial factors involved in the process of vicarious traumatisation, the cognitive/emotional/physiological/behavioural symptoms and a range of strategies for reducing the risk before, during and after highly stressful assignments.
