Learn about the Act-Belong-Commit campaign and reflect on your own mental health

AUSIT WA is pleased to welcome Mentally Healthy WA Project Officer Alisha Davis to deliver a presentation to introduce the Act-Belong-Commit campaign, and explore the concepts of mental health and mentally healthy behaviours.

Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions and engage in group discussion over a light afternoon tea. Take this time to think about your mental health and build up a strong network of peers in your profession.

The following topics will be discussed:

  • Defining mental health
  • Factors influencing mental health
  • The importance of looking after your own mental health
  • The Act-Belong-Commit campaign
  • What Act-Belong-Commit means to you

Mentally Healthy WA

Mentally Healthy WA (based at Curtin University) operates the well-established Act-Belong-Commit mental health promotion campaign, a unique, evidence-based program applicable to the whole community. Our overall vision is to work towards a society that values mental health and where everyone has the opportunity to be mentally healthy by creating supportive environments that strengthen individual and community resilience.

We do this through the Act-Belong-Commit campaign, which has continued to grow in reach and impact as it helps to change attitudes towards mental health and reduce stigma towards mental illness by encouraging people to be more open about mental health issues and inspiring people to engage in activities that strengthen their mental well-being.

Presenter:  Alisha Davis

Project Officer, Alisha Davis is the recipient of the 2020 AHPA (WA Branch) Graduate
Scholarship funded by Healthway. Her project aims to increase the awareness of positive mental health behaviours among Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CaLD) populations in WA and encourage people from CaLD backgrounds to engage in behaviours that protect and promote their mental health and well-being. Alisha has a Bachelor of Science (Genetics) and a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Western Australia.
